Brody's Mini Hat session

Yesterday, while I was trying to accomplish Cole's hat pictures, I found a few hats that I didn't get to use in Brody's last picture so we added them to the mix.....

This hat is one that his Nanna (Adam's Mom) picked up for him. SO CUTE!!

He loves to get right up in front of the camera.

and he got such a kick out of Cole's cowboy hat, that we had to let him try that one on too.

and presenting my two cowboys.....

Cole's Turn

So I think it was some time last week or the week before, that I did Brody's Big Hat Day, and I promised that I would do one for Cole as well. He is a little harder to convince and I often have to pull out several bribes to get him to go along with my "ridiculous" photo ideas.

You can tell from the first picture, he was not in the mood...

However after just a few bribes, we were able to pull one together. This is what we came up with, for Cole's Big Hat Day.....

and the bribe of the day turned out to be so simple!!!

Bubbles!!

Warning! Bubbles only work for a few minutes before they want thier turn and it just becomes a mess.
So, if you plan on trying it, hold out until the very end.....but those make for fun pictures as well.

Sweet Valentines!

Yesterday, I realized that Valentine's Day is approaching fast. That means I am running out of time to come up with cute Valentine cards for the boys this year Therefore, I decided I had better come up with some photo ideas so that when I am down to the wire I have a couple of things to choose from.
That being said my attempt to come up with something, resulted in me baking and decorating cupcakes!!! YUM!

A Day With Vicki!!

Today was a great day, all because one of my favorite people came to Owensboro to play!! Vicki Clark, made Crepes with a delicious dark cherry, Amaretto sauce on top, and brought them along with her when she came to visit today!! And as always, we had to pull out the cameras and capture our projects of the day......

These were the oh so yummy crepes!! There went my diet!

After we piled on the whip cream, we turned it around and saw that the other side left a hole in the shape of a heart, so rather than fix it and fill it in, I had to capture it as it was.

Of course we had to do something that we know is overdone, but what the heck....we set up and took pictures of oranges being submerged in Sprite...

but this does make it look a litle more interesting and unique.

Thanks Vicki, for a great time, I always enjoy it when we are able to get together for the day!

Brody's Big Hat Day!

Today, I was a day to photograph Brody. I had to get in at least one good day, before he turns one next month, so today was it, but since it was so rainy and gloomy out, there is only so many options I have. So, we tried on hats, and hats, oh and more hats!!! There were so many pics by the end , that I chose just a few to compile a quick collage for today's blog:)

My Sweet Boy.......in many different hats!

Blue....

Today's Photo Challenge from http://dailyshoot.com/assignments stated "Today's theme is blue. Make a photograph dominated by the color or that otherwise illustrates the theme." I came up with several more creative ideas, but since I have been wanting to do dripping water, I went with it, and I will save my more creative ideas for another day so that I can get to my other projects for today.

I started with this photo, but the background wasn't as blue as I was hoping for.....

So, I added this to a blue bowl to the set up, and came up with something I like much better.

Now, I am off to bake cupcakes, and who knows maybe I will post some pictures of those later:)

Getting so Big!!

Today was one of those days, that I decided to take a break from the daily shoot assignments and just focus on getting pictures of Cole in his suit.  I have tried this once before, when I took Brody's pictures, but Cole would have nothing to do with it, and I was worried that today would be a similiar story. I was determined to get at least one picture of him in his suit, so  I put it on him, and placed him in front of the camera, and crossed my fingers....

I was fortunate to get just a few......and I am not above saying it took a small bribe:)

But it was well worth it! He is getting so Big, and it's time like this that I realize just how fast he is growing up. I could photograph him all day just so that I have all of these memories and everlasting images of him as he gets older! However he does not feel the same...

Like I said I only got a few, before he noticed something out the window behind me....

So as I turned to see what it was, I realized I had a new subject to shoot, since Cole was officially far too distracted for any more photos. There was no sitting still now....

Not with a bird right outside the window!!
But Cole managed to disturb the bird with loud shrills of excitement and the words "Here bird, bird, bird" and he was off as well.

Oh  well, at least I managed to get a few of Cole, and one of my unexpected visitor.

Baby Steps...

Brody is trying so hard to walk and with a little assistance and the thrill of his squeekers, I would say we are not too far off...

And of course I had to get one of him barefoot to show off those cute little toes!!

I love you....just not as much as matchbox cars.

Today's photo challenge was once again from http://dailyshoot.com/assignments/419  It was to "Make a photograph today to serve as a special memory of somebody or something."  While I am nnot sure that I  will post any of these photos on that site, I did take the opportunity to pull out the camera and capture my two little ones playing in their John Deere pajamas this morning.

Since Cole was awake first, I figured I would start with him, but he had to be bribed to be in front of the camera so I turned on one of his favorite movies and placed a few of his favorite toys in front of him....Matchbox cars!

At first this seems to work out great

Then Brody wakes up and we add him to the mix...

Of course they have to set boundraies and challenge each other with the Ultimate Stare Down...

Then Brody makes the first move and well you can see the end result...

So before it got too out of hand, I switched activities to coloring

This actually seem to work out fine for awhile...

Well, until Brody took the Crayon Cole just picked up out of his hand

So I moved Cole into the Kitchen and thought I would get some pictures of Brody by himself now.

But, it wasn't long before Cole had to come be part of that

And if Brody sat in a chair....

then Cole had to as well.

I guess Cole and Brody really do love each other, but at this point I think it's second to their love for matchbox cars.

Contrast...

Today's photo challenge was inspired by http://dailyshoot.com/assignments/417 again. Today's challenge was to take a photo the displayes high contrast, doing as much on camera and as little photo editing as possible. I didn't have much time to focus on this topic today, but I was able to pull 3 together rather quickly as you can tell.

Brody and his squeekers!!

Rather than do the assigned photo challenge today, I decided to take a break and Take photos of my boys. Cole, however, would have nothing to do with having his picture being taken, so I will have to try again another day.  I was able to get Brody to sit still long enough for me to capture a picture or two in his precious suit that  I bought in November, and never got around to taking a picture of him in it.....until now

My favorite part of this whole get up was the shoes
It was actually the only part he liked since they squeek every time he stomps on them!!

I am certain with these to inspire him, we will be walking soon...

Ok, so maybe it is an excuse....

Today's topic once again came from http://dailyshoot.com/assignments/415 .  The topic is
"Make a photograph today with a diagonal line leading the viewer's eye through the composition."
It took several photos once again, but I thought of other projects I would like to eventually use them for plus I have been dying to use a photo of these old trains, so this was my excuse......

Not sure why, but I am a sucker for old, wooden toys:)

One of my New Years Resolutions

I probably should have added the word MANY to the title, as this truly is just one of MANY resolutions I have set for myself this year. For now though, I will focus on my resolution pertaining to my photography.
I have decided that this year I will post at least one new picture every day. Now of course, I will be amazed if I am actually successful at obtaining this goal. I am sure that there will be days that I am sick or events that I cannot predict will keep me from posting on occasion, but I will do my best to work around all obstacles to post every day. I would love to be able to say that I will post a new picture that I took that very day, but there will be some days that I will have to play catch up and post something in which I took the photos on another day, and never got around to doing anything with.

The photo topic I used today was inspired by http://dailyshoot.com/assignments/414 (this site was recommended to me by my good friend Vicki Clark). The topic is symbols or icons.

At first I though I would just skip this one and post something that I need to catch up on. I didn't think I would find anything in my house that would satisfy that description, and I am surely to goodness not getting out in this cold today! Then I looked over at the bowl of potpouri setting on the table next to me, and realized this would be easier than I thought.

The fleur de lis

Considering where I am from, it should come to no surpise that I would display the symbol of the Saints.

After I took this picture I looked up to see what time it was and saw that the clock that my sister in-law gave me for Christmas also displayed the fleur de lis!

I realized, after taking this picture, two things.  First off, that this picture actually contains 3 symbols: The fleur de lis, a clock as the symbol of time, and hearts throughout as a symbol of love. Second of all, I realized I had more time than I thought so I returned to my bowl of potpouri and came up with this picture.

I have to say, I think I got more enjoyment out of this topic than I thought I would . Can't wait to find out what the topic is for tomorrow!

Thanks Vicki!

Mississippi in another light

I always look forward to trips to Mississippi, mostly because I get to visit with family. Everytime I am there I go out looking for new things to photograph, so that I have lots of memories to bring home with me. I have more pictures of the beach and the lighthouse than I can probably count. However it dawned on me during my last visit in December that I had no picture of the place I call home, at night.  So I called my friend Jamie Bosarge and we set out to the top of garage to take photos at night.

We started out on top of the Beau Rivage Garage

You can see so much of the coastline from up there.

While we were up there I saw the lighthouse and realized that as many pictures as I have of it, I didn't have any at night.....so we made our way to the lighthouse.

I was sastified with our little adventure and resolved to make my way back home to my mom's house, when something else caught my eye, boats with Chistmas light on it. As simple and as goofy as this may sound, it is something  forgot about Christmas on the coast. You don't see this in Kentucky so I had to stop there as well.

I love Christmas time on the Coast and I love walking through downtown Ocean Sprins while it is all lit up and decorated for Christmas.

And this is what happens when you accidently hit the shutter release button before you are ready...

Thanks for humoring me Jamie, can't wait for our next adventure!
